Storms on Tuesday

Storms

Tuesday

Well Monday started out with storms and ended with more nasty storms. But by the grace of god no damage here. Many dear families are not so lucky. My heart goes out to each family!

As the storms were whipping around I started a new rug. Will finish it up today.

Here on the farm we are working on tending to the animals. Baking, cooking, and planning the weeks work.

More storms heading our way this afternoon! I pray that each that will be in the path of storms today will be protected!

thursday night thoughts

As this day comes to a end i have been thinking over the last few days.

Yesterday i was blessed by a wonderful visit from a dear friend and a co worker of his. Mark is the husband of my dearest sister in Christ and he has become a very important part of my life. I have never had brothers and if i did i can honestly say i would hope they would be like this wonderful person. The girls and i sat and listened and chatted with mark and the co worker for a few hours. My oldest daughter offered them apple pie cobbler and coffee as we sat there. We laughed and picked about family and the things we have all done as parents to the children.. We laughed at the little things each of our children have done to make us think hummm maybe i should try to redue this whole thing.... It honestly felt good to just sit and laugh...

Today was back to normal day for us here on the farm. There was dogs to bath, house to clean, laundry to wash and hang on the line, and food to cook.

Tomorrow will be bill day and the day to pick up extra items that the farm needs. We are working on getting things to where we only have to leave the farm once a month.. I honestly cant wait for that. While  i am out tomorrow i would like to hit the thrift stores and look for sheets to make rugs out of.  Then back home as we have someone coming to look at our mini sheltland pony we have for sale ..

It is funny i blogged for years and had it down pat then stopped and now i am having to relearn how to do so much.. My goals for this blog is to have a place for recipes, craft ideas, money saving area.... you name it... but for now i will just have to do all those things in this format until i get it all figured out. please be patiet with me.. I will get it all figured out..

On the home front as far as crafts go this week we have made more dish cloths, worked on rugs, made a simple pillow case dress... not as much as i would like to get done but every item on the list is another one done...

Well all i pray that each of you have a blessed night.. I am going to get ready and go on to rest.. The boys are out at their fire meeting tonight and will be home late..i normally wait up for my boys but tonight my body is just worn out... have a wonderful restful night.. love to all

Mondays blessings

Today has been a busy day here on the little farm!

We started the day out with laundry on the line and making grits with cheese sausage and whole wheat toast! Lunch was a wonderful grilles cheese on whole wheat bread! And dinner was stew beef with potatoes and cornbread! Simple food but filling!

We also was blessed to get the whole house swept and mopped. The porch was cleaned along with the rabbit hutch, Guinne pig hutch and our bird cage. The trash was gathered, the door steps swept, ground a half bucket of wheat so we have flour for the week. The girls helped get the pig pins all cleaned out a s Steven built a  new door for the second pig pin. The praise god the yard has been mowed.... Yep it has been such.a busy but blessed day!

Finished my night off by going on a walk with the girls..

On the blessed note we need up build a new barn for the goats and horses but money is so tight. Without even knowing it our neighbor asked us about it and have us all the metal roofing we will need up put on the roof!! Praise god free!!! So as it is right now we have the metal fence, the wood for the sides of the barn, now the roof metal. Still need the post for the pole barn but that's all!!  So far this will cost us only the price of the nails and screws!! Praise god for your blessings!!

So what has been going on in your side of the world? How has god blessed your life? What have you done to bless someone's life?

Rose from my yard beautiful yellow bloom
And here is a beautiful red bloom!!

Around the little farm today we have laundry whipping in the wind. BBQ turkey cooking on the stove to make sandwiches out of for dinner. We will serve it with homemade whole wheat buns I made this morning. Along with some whole wheat bread. There will also be apple pie cobbler.

Strawberry plants are growing beautiful! We will by the grace of god have strawberries soon! The pear tree, plum tree, fig bush, blue berries and grapes are growing and looks like they will also be a good crop!

Thinking about the coming weekend and the work that needs to be done. I want to get the garden area worked up. I so want to get it all planted!

We have been using more and more of the food in the pantry!! From the looks of things we will need to can at least 3500 to 4000 jars of food to last a year!

By the end of the month I am going to post the whole menu for the month and how much our grocery dollars were spent. Along with recipes to go along side. My goal is to cut my grocery budget down to 100 a month for a family of five.

Well all have a blessed day time to get busy again!

Sunny Saturday

Good afternoon all!! Wow it has been busy here on the farm!

Got up and made muffins for breakfast, then off to get clothes on the line to dry!

All the animals fed and taken care of for the day! Then it was time to mow the yard, fix a fence post, remove the pallet beds and level that ground out so we can get a roller tiller in there to work up the garden.

For lunch we made baked corn muffin dogs and hash browns. Dinner is cooking of spegettie sauce from tomatoes I canned!! I so love that!!

We also moved the big baby chickens to their new home in the big coop.

Becky started working on the pool trying to get it all cleaned up and ready for swimming!

Liz and I came inside to work on moving the living room around and clean under the couches. We also moved my room around so I could have my rocker in there to work on projects!

It has already been a busy day here on the farm!

I pray that each of you have had a blessed Saturday!!

Pictures of candles

Here is more of the candles I made today.
And fresh baked bread! I so love whole wheat!

Good early afternoon all.

It has been a busy morning around here on the little farm. There was chickens, pigs, goats, horses and dogs to tend to. It rained like crazy here last night so there was ample mud to work past. Inside there was laundry to wash and dry. Floors to sweep and mop! Bathroom to clean, house to dust and storm door to clean! Right now we have a lemon chess pie cooling, bread rising, and I will be working on freezer biscuits after this post.

I was able to get 10 free candles made up today. All the wax was recycled from other candles, the wicks I buy in a large roll on line for 2.00 and it last forever the tabs are soda bottle tabs and some are reused tabs from other candles. They are scented with imitation vanilla and some are cinnamon.

So what's up next on the list for the day... Well there is a rug that needs to be finished and two crochet dish cloths that need my attention. Also I would like to cut dish towel dresses out for sewing tomorrow.

Free to me candles!
This is the dish towel dresses I make and use! They hang nicely on my cabinet.
And last this is my dish cloths. I use them daily and love them also!

My special buy

Today I was blessed to find this beautiful pitcher at a thrift store for only 2.00!!

We as a family have made the choice to only use glass items for storage and food containers. I needed a few more pitchers for drinks...

Friday..

Well this morning started out with storms! Thank The Lord all is well. It is still raining here some so that means no hanging of laundry on the line this morning.

Breakfast was hash browns, sausage and eggs. The day will be one of running around and these are the days I don't like the most. I am such a homebody honestly! Just love being here in my part of the world. But bills have to be paid, and a few store bought groceries have to be taken care of. Thankful we do have a nice hometown grocery store that I do most of my shopping in so at least it's not a huge box store!!

All the farm animals are doing great and are so growing! It just blesses my heart to set and watch them! There is something about just being.. Just having peace.. I watch the pigs, chickens, goats and horses and you just see how my grandparents lived there lives And I find peace in that. Not the hustle and bustle of the normal life today.

Once back at the farm there will be afternoon chores to tend to. Also I need to get the work plans for the weekend. We need to get the garden boxes moved and more built. Also a few chicken tractors built for our teen birds. Then there is the goats horse barn that needs to be mucked. Chicken house could use a good spring cleaning. And we have new bathroom flooring that has needed to be put down for sometime. So there is lots to work on!

I pray that each of you are having a blessed week and remember take time to  do something for another person! It changes their life and yours!!

Finished days work

Well we finished the onions up in the dehydrator. I am so pleased with the turn out. The onions look darker in the picture than in real life but y'all get the just of it. I will take these and grind them up and use them for onion powder.

Well so far we have the house in order. Freezer biscuits are done and now packaged. Dinner will be a simple meal of turkey chopped up and put into a homemade gravy served over biscuits some vegs and jello for dessert.
Thought I would show y'all how I save my left over wax to make new candles. I have a old bread box and inside it is baggies as I get candle pieces I just place in the color bag. When I am ready to use I just pull the bag and use replace bag to be filled again. All tabs are saved and placed in a small green cabinet along side of all coke bottle tabs! Wicks I buy in bulk to cut more cost! I also use my strings from feed bags to make wicks just braid them and use as you do store bought! ;0)
For the budget person I am this is what we do when someone gives us onions that right now we can't use!! I slice them and dehydrate them!! Once they are done we can either blend them up to make onion powder or just leave them to add to soups etc!! And cost was just time and the electric to run the appliance!

Thursday blessed schedule!

Good morning all!

Woke to a cool cloudy morning. But the work of the day is off and moving right along! The goats, horses, pigs, chickens and dogs have all been fed. The children are enjoying homemade English muffins with cheese, ham and farm fresh eggs.

On the plans for the day will be making hand dipped candles, biscuits to freeze to make quick breakfast ideas. They are so easy and just makes a nice thing to have here for the kids. All I do is make my homemade buttermilk biscuit recipe and before I bake them I freeze them. When the kids want one they take them out defrost some and bake. Also there is laundry to wash. The clothes will be have to put in the dryer today as the weather won't permit them on the line. Another item I will work on today is some much needed sewing.
